President Obama: Imperial In Style + Childish In Behavior

Psychiatrists Deeply Concerned For 5% Of Americans Who Approve Of Congress...The Onion

  • The headline above is not far from the truth. A recent AP poll found Congress has a whopping 5% approval rating. This should surprise no one since most in the political class are lying rat bastards. That's right. I said it---most are lying rat bastards.
  • But it's not only Congress that should disturb Americans; it's the president. In short, we're watching a president of the United States who not only has penchant for lying but he also has a tendency to display childish behavior. This was evident in his speech earlier this week.
  • As I wrote several weeks ago, immediately following the shooting of Rep. Giffords in Tuscon in January of 2011, the president said, "...it is only a more honest and civil public  discourse {that} can help us face up to the challenges of our nation..." Of course, within hours of the incident, his surrogates went on to blame the Tea Party and others on the right side of the political aisle for the shooting.

  • So it should have come as no surprise to anyone that president Obama and his enablers (like Harry Reid, the most miserable prick in Congress) have continued demonizing his political opponents. Generally, that's what politicians have been doing for centuries. But it's not what presidents usually do.  When referring to their political adversaries, presidents do not use language and phrases like: "Extortion," "Hold people hostage or engage in ransom taking..," "Putting a gun to the American people's head," and referring to Republicans as "extremists.". Yet this is the language used by President Obama.
  • As Nile Gardiner of The Telegraph {UK} wrote this week: "This was a childish, as well as unpleasant, display of petulance by Mr. Obama, who treats elected officials as though they were puppets who should dance to his tune...Barack Obama's approach today was imperial in style, both arrogant and condescending and deeply partisan in outlook. There was no hint of humility on show from this president against the backdrop of declining poll numbers {most recently at 37% approval} and mounting disillusionment with his presidency."
  • This also reminds me of a political cartoon I read recently. It shows President Obama sitting at his desk and saying the following to an adviser: "During the government shutdown, I want things to be as frustrating and inefficient for people as possible." His adviser replies, "Right, so business as usual." In other words, Obama is not only vindictive, but he's ruthless as well. Unfortunately, the American people have been his primary target.

Asking Once Again: Has The Obama Administration "Jumped The Shark?"---Obama Is Now At 37% Approval

Despite the shutdown, the congressional gym in Washington D.C., remains open. The congressional gym is like any other gym except the customers are the dumbbells...Ferguson

Note: Since this was posted, millions have lost their health insurance and the Obamacare web site is still garbage (down today again).
  • Earlier this year, I posed the question: Has Obama jumped the shark? I asked that question during the sequestration scare by the administration and Democrats. I pointed out that even the Late Nite comics as well as SNL were mocking the claims that were being made by the administration. At the time, Peggy Noonan wrote a piece entitled, "Obamas are everywhere but doing nothing." She also correctly pointed out the administration and Democrats used scare tactics and then let the media do the rest.
  • At the same time, there were several reports by the media of threats made by the administration against them. Jonathan Alter of MSNBC and a long-time Obama suck-up, reported he was threatened by the administration for writing something they did not like. The NY Post even wrote a long piece about the media complaining of threats by the administration. In fact, Bill Plante, one of the deans at CBS News, said, "They're {Obama administration} are undercutting the First Amendment."
  • After all of that and more (just the continued conspicuous failures in domestic and foreign policy for the last 5 years), I really believed the administration had jumped the shark. I might have made that claim a tad early.
  • At that time, even though the media was being attacked by the administration, they continued to circle the wagons to protect the progressive political class. After all, they are part of it.
  • But I contend all of this may just have changed in the last two weeks with the shutdown and the way WWII vets were treated last week at their own Memorial. Even more disturbing, after  WWII vets were barred from honoring their war dead, illegal immigrants were permitted to hold a rally. In fact, three dozen or more Democrats attended that rally. None---to our knowledge---visited any Veteran memorials.
Unfortunately, the pain, misery, punishment and inconvenience imposed by this administration and government did not end there. To date, we've seen the following actions by our own government against our citizens:

Soft Tyranny Is Still Tyranny: Will More Americans No Longer Genuflect To The Political Class?

The shutdown is hurting everyone.  Michelle Obama told fat kids, "You're on your own. Eat a Happy Meal. I don't care."...Leno

  • Most of my family grew up either under the Nazis or Communists in Poland. Some were killed.  Fortunately for me, my parents had the guts to leave and come to America when I was two years old. Subsequently I had the unique opportunity to visit Poland on several occasions while it was still under the Communist hammer. I also visited the country on other occasions when it was free of the tyrannical chains of Communism.
  • I only bring this to your attention because I want to be careful when I use language like "tyranny" or "despotism" when referring to this administration and current government. Instead I've often relied on referring to this administration and Congress as bullies. Perhaps "bullies" remains a more appropriate description of what we've been witnessing over the last few years, especially in the last 6 months of sequestration and the government shutdown.
  • However, I find myself leaning more toward a soft tyranny when describing the recent actions of our government. During my visits to Eastern Europe,  I personally experienced many restrictions and limits under the Communists (e.g. control of food prices producing food shortages resulting in long lines just to get some food followed by food riots, restrictions on freedom of movement, suspension of civil rights, economic stagnation, secret police surveillance, etc.). But even under Communism, if you knew how to "work the system" and if you befriended the right people, you could get by. For example, under Communism, I quickly found out that the American dollar could open many doors for me. In most cases, I never had to wait on those long food lines to get some good meat. As long as I produced an American buck, I was able to purchase anything I wanted because merchants withheld the better stuff for those with dollars. When I went shopping for a pair of shoes, I was able to get my size and color. The locals, on the other hand who didn't have other currency, were faced with racks of brown shoes all size 13.
  • Fortunately most of Eastern Europe eventually refused to genuflect to the political class as they unleashed themselves from Russia's tyranny.
  • I started to think about my experience in Eastern Europe in contrast to what our own government did this week when it restricted WWII veterans to their own memorial. Just as disturbing, there have been reports of people arrested and/or fined for jogging in some of our national parks (why not send those Park Rangers to the Southern border and arrest real criminals?). In other words, this government has restricted our movement to monuments, memorials and national parks that belong to us.

"This Land Is My Land...This Land Is Your Land...This Land Was Stole By You From Me."

President Obama has officially canceled his trip to Asia. He said he didn't want to be in Indonesia not doing anything to solve the crisis {here} when he could be in Washington not doing anything to solve it...Leno

  • It should be disturbing to so many Americans to watch an administration  and their government largely target veterans, disabled veterans, missing children, and the middle-class during this faux government shutdown (we found out last week that only 17% of the government is really shutdown. This data came from the Congressional Budget Office and the Office of Management and Budget)).
  • But the fact is this administration's vindictiveness is nothing new. We already know the considerable damage  done to the country by Obamanomics in the last five years. That data is solid and undeniable (high unemployment, highest poverty rates in decades, the plunge in middle class wealth, billions wasted on failed green initiatives, etc,).
  • The sequester and this current shutdown illustrate politics at its worst. In fact, in addition to punishing political enemies, the administration exhibits a spiteful pathology to also spread pain and misery to ordinary Americans.
  • In just this last week, we've observed the administration and its goons shutting down military memorials and cemeteries in this country and overseas, e.g. Normandy (Even though all government property belongs to us not the government. We paid for most of it with our taxes).  We've witnessed Park Rangers trying to stop octogenarian veterans from entering their own Memorial in D.C.

  • And also this week, the Amber Alert web site was shut down (it is now operational again due to public pressure and outrage). Keep in mind, this is a national web site to try to find MISSING CHILDREN.
  • All of this should surprise no one. During the sequester, the president ordered to make the 2% budget cut as painful as possible (this week a Park Service employee admitted they were ordered "to make life difficult" during the shutdown). In fact, at the time, Transportation Secretary warned, "It's going to be very painful for the flying public." Tuition assistance for active duty personnel was suspended. The administration used scare tactics proclaiming cuts would need to be made to police and first-responders.
