The Economy Is Just One Speech Away From Recovery...The Onion
With the news today that more people have signed on to go to Mars than have signed on at the ObamaCare exchanges, I thought it might be time to challenge the 37% of Americans who still support Pres. Obama (the good news? Many are wising up regarding Congress. Its approval rating is 5%. In other words, taking into consideration the margin of error, no one in America approves of Congressional performance). While many of Obama's supporters are low information voters who are more interested in the ballooning of Kim Kardashian's ass, there are many Obama administration failed policies that directly affect them.
So this is my challenge to those to those Obama supports. What do you like about...
- An ObamaCare failed computer rollout that cost taxpayers---YOU---over $500 million? In fact, USA Today reported this morning the entire web site may need to be rebooted because the site was built with 10-year-old technology. That's like building a radio today using transistors. In other words, when this is all said and done, the web site might costs American taxpayers about a billion dollars. Admit it. Even you have to either be crying or laughing your ass off right now.
- This week a "whopping" one person finally signed up in Delaware, about 800 in several states.
- An ObamaCare economy that is also directly responsible for creating largely part-time jobs (of the jobs created last fiscal year, almost 80% were part-time)? The ObamaCare casualty list grows larger ever day.
- A health care law---ironically called the Affordable Care Act---that is raising health care premiums by well over 100% in many states and 200% in several states? Heritage Foundation
- A health care that is directly resulting in hundreds and thousands of layoffs nationwide. Again, in USA Today recently, almost 42,000 health care workers have lost their jobs most directly attributed to ObamaCare?
- A government that has admitted targeting American citizens by using the IRS and NSA?
- First time unemployment filers averaging in the 350,000 range each WEEK? (last week, spiked to 366,000).
- An unemployment rate still over 7% with African-American unemployment double that?
- A foreign policy that CREATED more problems in Syria, Egypt, Libya and other parts of the Middle East and N. Africa? (Throw Russia, N. Korea and Iran in the mix too)
- Benghazi?
- Fast and Furious?
- A poverty rate of 15% or about 47 million people living in America with historical high poverty rates for children?
- Gitmo still open for business? (First Obama promise broken).
- Obama's failed promise of bringing American together? (difficult to do when he and his surrogates refer to their political opponents as racist, terrorists, arsonists...).
- The nation's massive debt of over $17T that will certainly damage future generations including your own children?
- Billions wasted on failed green energy initiatives? (that's your money wasted yet again).
I leave you with this list although I could fill up several more pages. However, if you still support this administration's policies with a record such as this one, then you deserve what you get. And don't whine about it. You help create it.
Postscript:
Since this was written, the Obama administration admitted they had no strategy against ISIS. And Ebola was transmitted to another American in America for the first time. In addition, another scandal arose within the VA.

- I recall my visit to Poland in 1990. They were just coming out from under Communist rule and elections were taking place. As an American, there was a phenomena I found fascinating. There must have been at least 8-10 political parties engaged during their campaign period. And it was understandable considering they had been living under one political party for over 40 years. After the last two weeks of our own government shutdown, it should surprise no one that there are many voices proclaiming the need for another major American third party. We hear this same voices after every election. But I would urge caution considering the historical failure rate of American third parties.
- Last night, after the government was re-opened, I Tweeted something to this effect: "Boehner can now use ObamaCare to get a pair of balls." In other words, it was clear that the Republicans---largely the progressive and moderate Republicans---caved into the demands of Obama and the Democrats yet again---and they wonder why they've lost the presidency twice in the last 8 years. They allowed Obama to get away with this basic strategy: I get what I want---then I'll negotiate with you. There's an autocratic ring to using that type of strategy. Yet, as we've seen all too often with this president, it can work. But it only works---when you allow it to work.

- It's been clear Republicans don't know how to message. It's also been clear it's because most of the media will not report their message. For example, the Media Research Center reviewed the evening news broadcasts from Oct. 1 to Oct. 15. Of the 124 full stories and brief items about the shutdown, 41 blamed Republicans for the impasse, 17 blamed both sides and NONE blamed the Democrats. Keep in mind. During this entire week, it was Democrats + Obama who were using incendiary language like ransom, hostage, gun to our heads, etc. not Republicans.
- Also, the infighting in the Republican ranks left many scratching their heads on the sidelines.
- So where does this leave many Americans? I believe they feel like their politically homeless today, especially conservatives. In fact many have felt that way for a long time. And the manner in which these shutdown and debt ceiling negotiations took place probably reinforced that perception.
Nation Could Probably Draw John Boehner From Memory At This Point...The Onion

- Last June, Rich Lowry of the National Review, wrote this: "The administration's corruption isn't bags of cash or lies about interns, it's a distortion of our form of government."
- I thought about that quote today as the government announced there might be a deal to reopen the government. But I also realized this government shutdown exposed the soft tyranny governments are capable of imposing on its citizens.
- Prior to the shutdown, we already had clear evidence of the government's overreach and intimidation with the scandals involving the IRS targeting mainly conservative groups and the NSA's massive surveillance of ordinary Americans. At the time those scandals broke, David Camp of the House Ways and Means Committee said, "Americans are affected by a culture of political intimidation and discrimination..."
- Over the last five years, we've experienced the damage caused by this administration's failures in both domestic policies and in foreign policy---damage that will haunt the nation for decades after this administration leaves office.
- Several months ago, two disgraced politicians---Anthony Weiner and Eliott Spitzer---exhibited their utter arrogance by attempting to run for political office again. Yes, they lost. But what made them think they could win? Easy, if Obama could win and even be re-elected, they thought why not give it a shot.
You have to sign up for your plan (ObamaCare) Before You Find Out What's In It...David Burge Tweet
Editor's Note: Since this was posted, we've learned millions have lost their health insurance. In addition, we now know Pres. Obama and Democrats knew this in 2010.
- I have this strange feeling that even Pres. Obama does not support ObamaCare (The Affordable Care Act). If, as many believe, ACA is the president's signature legislation to date; then why does it suck so bad? Wouldn't one think the architect of the plan would do everything in his power to make it work? Yet, the failures continue to be monumental and disturbing.
- Reports of how many have actually enrolled in ObamaCare range from 51,000 to just over 100,000 in the last two weeks. To make this plan work, it's estimated at least 7 million Americans need to get on board in the next several months. If these enrollment numbers continue, it can't happen.

- As I wrote in June and later in September, ObamaCare sticker shock is hitting many Americans hard. In addition, ACA's casualty list keeps growing by leaps and bounds. In just the last two weeks alone, we've seen reports of major computer glitches and concerns over the security of the data (keep in mind, under ObamaCare, your privacy is virtually non-existent. They will not only have access to your medical data, but also to your financial data, personal data and even associations. For example, The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported in September that one of their exchanges accidentally sent out an email containing 2,400 social security numbers. Internet security pioneer, John McAfee recently predicted ACA will be a hacker's dream. In fact, he went as far to say that the information required by exchanges could lead to consumer bank accounts being emptied within one hour of submitting that information. In other words, as of today, the exchanges are not secure. Other security experts have raised similar concerns).
- If that doesn't piss you off enough, perhaps this will. FrontPage reported this week that the Canadian company hired to create the ObamaCare website was FIRED by the Ontario government because it missed three years of deadlines and failed to deliver the product. To date, this company has received almost $100M to do the job.
- Also this week, Forbes reported the ACA website continues to crash because it doesn't want consumers to know how costly the plans really are. In other words, the administration's political objectives trumped operational objectives. Forbes shows clearly that "ObamaCare was NOT designed to help healthy people with average incomes to get health insurance. It was designed to force those people to pay more for coverage, in order to subsidize insurance for people with incomes near the poverty line and those with chronic and costly medical conditions." All together now: BINGO!
Breaking: Congressmen Walking Somewhere...The Onion
- If there is one truism in government, it's this. Progressive Republicans always attempt to appease Progressive Democrats. They believe the Democrats will suddenly like them. Inevitably, Progressive Democrats then stab those Republicans in the back. Sen. McCain learned that lesson on countless occasions as did Pres. Bush. It's for this reason few conservatives trust the progressive political class regardless of party affiliation.
- Groucho Marx was to have said, "Those are my principles. Well, if you don't like them, I have others." As I wrote some months ago, that quote describes the state of the Republican Party today. The Progressive Republican Party could not even beat an incumbent who had one of the worst records in American political history. It's bad enough conservatives have to deal with Progressive Democrats. It's even worse when they have to battle with Progressive Republicans.

- It's also been clear when Republicans adhere to conservative principles, they can win elections. Pres. Reagan was proof of that even in the face of the progressive onslaught from his OWN party. Reagan triumphed because he believed in limited government power over the individual. He believed national security is a national priority. He believed in supporting our military and our veterans. He put his full support behind the free enterprise system and warned us about creeping Socialism. As important as all of these principles are and more, he believed in American exceptionalism.
- Progressives, on the other hand, either never learned that lesson or prefer relying on the failure of progressive principles. Thomas Sowell once wrote, "Barack Obama's rhetoric of 'change' is in fact a restoration of discredited ideas that originated 100 years ago." He was referring to the two leaders in the progressive era: Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson.
- Today, we're witnessing the assault by Progressive Republicans upon conservatives like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. Both senators are proving to be a threat to the progressive political class. Both have not only been attacked by Democrats, but they've been attacked by Sen. McCain and Rep. Peter King especially prior to and during the government shutdowns. What makes these attacks disturbing is that both McCain, King and other Progressive Republicans benefited from the conservative victory in 2010. Yet, last March, after several Republicans like McCain and company exited the White House after having dinner with Pres. Obama, the first thing they did was attack Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.
- It's becoming increasingly clear why Progressive Republicans fear conservatives and others like Ted Cruz---Cruz is becoming more successful in reaching out to conservatives. In fact, King himself said recently, "We can't allow 40 or 50 people to hijack the Republican Party." If I had the opportunity, my response to Peter King would be: they are not hijacking the Republican Party. You are losing the conservative wing of the Republican Party.
- This fact is clear. Ted Cruz and other conservatives are trying to take the controls of the aircraft now piloted by Progressive Republicans before the plane plunges into madness.
