The Demise Of Free Speech, Tolerance + Diversity On Many American Colleges + Universities

Educational Puppet Pelted With Crayons...The Onion

  • Last week, many of the professors and students at Rutgers University were livid that former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was invited to address this year's graduates. They based their intolerant assertion on Condi Rice's tenure as Secretary of State during the Bush administration. As of this writing, she remains on the schedule.
  • Consider this. She was the first female African-American to hold that post. Prior to serving in the Bush administration, she was Provost at Stanford for six years. She's also an accomplished pianist.  Her family has roots in the American South going back prior to the Civil War. As an 8 year old in segregated Birmingham, Alabama, she was friends with the three children who were killed in the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church on a Sunday morning in 1963. That's an abridged version of the life of the woman that some Rutgers' students and professors want to bar from speaking at their commencement.
  • Unfortunately, this is one of many examples of the intolerance today on many of our college and university campuses toward conservative and Christian speakers.
  • David Horowitz, a former Marxist (self-identified) and now a conservative activist, actually needs body guards any time he speaks at some university campuses. In fact, many conservatives speakers now require bodyguards.
  • Ann Coulter was attacked by two students at the University of Arizona while giving a speech in 2004. The two creeps threw pies at her. When later questioned by policy, the two nitwits said they were throwing the pies at her ideas not at her.
  • More recently, former NYPD Commissioner, Ray Kelly, was invited to speak at Brown. Protesters wouldn't allow him to speak.

Obama Uses His Red Pen Against Americans. But Against Despots?---The Eraser

Despite the fact that the Ukraine has been all over the news the last few weeks, a survey found that 64% of U.S. students still couldn't Ukraine on the map. Said Putin, "Soon nobody will."  Seth Myers

  • Last September, I wrote a popular piece entitled, "Obama: A Bully Domestically, Spineless, Weak + Aimless Internationally." At the time, we watched as Pres. Obama drew that infamous "red line" against Syria and then quickly erased it. We also observed the administration's hyper-incompetence in dealing with Egypt, Iran, and now Russia. Prior too and since, we've also witnessed the attacks by this administration on faith based institutions, on conservative institutions (by the IRS) and on all Americans with the NSA. We've also seen millions of Americans lose their health insurance because of Obamacare.
  • In other words, as shown in a recent political cartoon, the Obama administration's red lines have been effective in crossing out American jobs, American healthcare, American prestige, American strength (the proposal to cut back on our military forces---great timing Mr. President), American security and American influence.
  • Believe me, I take no pleasure in reporting---as many others have---that Putin's been eating our president's lunch. Putin, the former KGB agent, is a damn despot. In just the last two weeks, we've threatened Putin with a variety of actions, yet he continues to rattle his sabre. As I wrote yesterday, even perceived weakness by our government, the UN and the EU---invites thugs like Putin to do whatever he wants to do. He appears strong because the West appears weak. He still went into Crimea and his troops locked down Ukrainian military barracks and high profile buildings. His tactics are reminiscent of what most dictators do. They use tactics to buy time. He did that when he reinforced Assad in Syria. We know now what that outcome was.

Even Perceived Geopolitical Weakness Invites Thugs Like Putin To Rattle Their Sabres

We're studying which of Obama's phony accents will be most effective in talks with Putin. We're leaning toward the "Southern Preacher" thing...Jay Carnie Tweet

  • "For five years, Pres. Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality."
  • That was the first sentence from a piece by The Washington Post not from any conservative media source. But before any reader believes a progressive publication like The Washington Post is coming around, think twice. In the last five years, it's been their complicity in this administration's hyper-incompetence that has led to the situation we find ourselves domestically and now internationally.
  • Remember---in the middle of this current crisis and in most of the Middle East---it was this administration that's proposed we return to the levels of military strength prior to WWII (it was also in the 1930's when the Allies paid little attention to Hitler's aggression. The outcome of that foreign policy failure was over 50 million dead). In 2009, it was the Obama administration that scrapped the missile defense system that defended parts of Eastern Europe.

During Oscars, Former KGB Thug Putin Asked Obama: Do You Want Mustard On That Soft Pretzel?

Putin imposes his will despite the Ukrainian people's objection. Who does he think he is, Obama? Tweet by Jay Carnie

John Kerry windsurfing to meet with Putin in Russia

  • In the past, I've made several observations regarding the foreign policy---or lack thereof---of the Obama administration. I also made the claim that America lost its stature in global foreign policy when Obama made his first bow.
  • This administration's spineless foreign policy has consequences. We've seen it played out in Egypt (the myth of the Arab Spring). We've seen it played out in Syria (Obama's red pen came with an eraser). We've seen it played out with Iran and it's nuke program (they basically told us to take a hike). And now we're seeing it played out in the Ukraine. Or as Michael Goodwin of the NY Post wrote this weekend: "Only Obama and his ship of fools were surprised {at Putin's actions}."
  • And keep in mind, our foreign policy rests on the flaccid rhetoric of John F. Kerry whose proving to be as feckless as many of us all believed.  It reminds me of an old Leno joke: "I've lost some weight. I'm on the new Obama diet. Every day I let Putin eat my lunch."  Or perhaps, a Turkish tour guide recently said it better, "I used to think of the U.S. as a big superpower. Now, I just think of it as a big country."
  • All of this and more is the price our great nation is currently paying for a weak foreign policy. The irony in all of this is that Pres. Obama and his progressive enablers act as bullies when it comes to domestic policy as evidenced by the IRS, NSA and more recently, the FCC. But when it comes to standing up to foreign thugs like Putin, they fold.
