Obamacare Is Really A Mirage: It's There But It Really Isn't There

You're too Canadian if: You're laughing at Obamacare...Tim McRaw, comedian

  • In the past, I've called Obamacare a hoax. I still believe it is but with a twist. It's more like a mirage.  Obamacare is there but it really isn't there.
  • Why do I say that? Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal broke the news that the Obama administration mandated yet another delay. This one the individual mandate---allegedly the heart of the law. The Journal wrote about this new authorization: "In a word...these shifting legal benchmarks offer an exemption to anyone who could conceivably want one." All someone has to do is say he/she cannot find affordable coverage (no mention of how it affects transgenders). This delay comes on the heels of the employer mandate last month.
  • Also this week, Health and Human Services reported that 4.2 million Americans have signed up for Obamacare(  approximately 6 millions Americans have already lost their health insurance). But even the administration had to admit they don't know how many enrollees have actually paid for the plans. According to the administration, their accounts-payable system is still not fully operational (keep in mind, they've had four years to get their act together on one of the most important pieces to any payment plan). We do know in seven states only 79% of enrollees have actually paid their premiums.

By Golly---Sink Sunk By Jolly By Stomping On Key Progressive Principles

Why is the media so unhappy? Is a Republican winning an election somewhere that might signal bigger things?...Tweet by John Nolte

  • In the past, I've been critical of Republicans. In short, I've referred to them as spineless and feckless. In many respects, I still hold most Republicans in very low regard. I've also made it clear that if Republicans want to win future elections, they need to embrace conservative principles. No where has that been more evident than in Wisconsin where Gov. Scott Walker keeps winning doing just that.
  • But something interesting occurred in yesterday's Florida's 13th District special election. Republican David Jolly defeated Democrat Alex Sink.  In fact, Sink had better name recognition than Jolly. In addition, Jolly is a former lobbyist for the oil industry. Obama also won that district in the past two presidential elections.  The belief among Republicans is that Jolly won because Obamacare is so unpopular. While there's some truth to that claim, his victory actually went beyond Obamacare.

NYC Shows The Nation Another Progressive Reign Of Failure---On The Poor

"You (NYC voters) elected a Fidel Castro, not an Abraham Lincoln. Now you have to live with." Letter to the Editor of the NY Post by Bill Cancesse

  • In the past two months, I wrote several pieces about the consequences of NYC electing a far-left, progressive mayor. At the time, I predicted the city would be plunging into progressive hell. It appears my warnings were justified.
  • A little background. NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio likes to brag that he received 73% of the vote. He did. But more than 80% of NY City's registered voters did not vote for de Blasio. Why? The answer is in the numbers: three out of four registered voters didn't even go to the polls. While he was offering himself up as a prophet (reminds one of someone else), he's turned into a false prophet.
  • In addition, one of his allies---Melissa Mark-Viverto---is now Speaker of NYC Council. Her legacy is interesting. She lobbied on behalf of five Cuban intelligence officers convicted of spying on the United States. She also lobbied for the release of the leader of the FALN Puerto Rican terrorist group. The FALN was responsible for 120 bombings largely in NYC and Chicago from 1974 to 1983 resulting in deaths and injuries. As a sidebar, in 1999, Bill Clinton commuted the sentences of 16 of these terrorist thugs. Viverto is also a former member of the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) long associated with ACORN.
  • Like many urban school districts, the NY public school system has many problems. For example, at 53 public schools, not one black student passed the state's most recent math tests. At 48 schools, not one Hispanic passed the same test. In fact, there are 105 schools in the system where the math proficiency rate is 5% or less. The list of public school failures is endless.

  • So what does Mayor de Blasio and his herd of progressive despots want to do? They want to shut out some of the more successful schools in the district---charter schools.  As Peggy Noonan pointed out so well last week: "Ideologues will sacrifice anything to their ideology. Even children." And in the case of most of the charter schools, the children happen to be mostly black and Hispanic. Noonan added, "Bill Blasio doesn't like charter schools. They are too successful to be tolerated." They are also too successful to also be tolerated by the public school union. In fact, the parents of one of the charter schools, Success Academy, announced a series of law suits against the city. How successful is Success Academy? Last year, 82% of its students passed citywide math exams. For the public system, the rate was 30%.
  • Mayor de Blasio's actions are right out of the progressive playbook: Namely, the collective is more important than the individual. That ideology was expressed by Pres. Obama himself in the last presidential campaign when he said, "If you have a business, you didn't build that."
  • Once again, NYC Mayor de Blasio is showing the nation progressive failure. Unfortunately, this time (among many), it's a reign of terror on the poor.
Postscript:

Since this was posted, New Yorkers are ripping into De Blasio for crime, poverty and rising homelessness.

Obama + Elite Political Class Create Alternative Realities With The Aid Of The Complicit Media

Over the weekend, Pres. Obama played golf with Tiger Woods. Tiger said Obama is a very good golfer for a guy who only plays golf five times a week...Leno last year

  • Creating political distractions and diversions is not new for most politicians especially presidents. They all do it. But the Obama administration, the current political class and their complicit media raised the use of distractions + diversions to an art form.
  • In the beginning and for almost 4 years after Obama was elected, Bush was still blamed for most of the problems created by the Obama administration. They used that distraction effectively until the clock ran out.
  • In the case of the Obama administration, we watched how this was played out in the last election cycle. The Obama campaign threw out all types of cultural war diversions ranging from the war on class to gender to outright lies and deceit. For example,  the most miserable prick in Congress, Harry Reid, charged that Romney had not paid his taxes (Romney later showed that he did). Or the suggestion that Romney abused his dog until we later found out that Obama actually ate a dog at one time. Or the charge of Romney's association with Bain Capital (the company had laid off over 800 employees. There was just one itsy-bitsy problem: Romney had already been two years removed from Bain).  That was followed by attacking those who supported the Second Amendment. All of those distractions and more were aimed at diverting the attention of voters from one of the worst economies in American history including the rising rates of unemployment, poverty and food stamp use.  At the time, even Michael Walsh of the NY Post noted this: "Obama and company actually still play irrelevant culture-war politics than deal with what really matters: getting the economy moving again." By the way, regarding the Democrats accusing Republicans of waging a war on women, allow me to direct you to the image below:
