Netanyahu Beats The Progressive Onslaught Handily

• If one watched the progressive media this week as I did, one would have observed how absolutely giddy and punch drunk they were with euphoria. This was especially evident at CNN, NPR and the lunatics at MSNBC. 
• Early polls were showing that Netanyahu would probably lose the election. And, by the way, I'm not only referring to the American media. The media in Israel is largely progressive as well (bear in mind, for many Israeli and American Jews, their ideology trumps their concern for Israel. If you don't believe me just read the editorials. The NY Times is one classic example of this warped dogma). This same ideology was being expressed by much of the world-wide press too.
• But the onslaught by progressives didn't only end with their press. In early February I wrote a piece entitled, "Obama Administration's Conspicuous Hostility Toward Israel." In that piece, I summarized the disdain the Obama administration has toward Israel and Netanyahu. How deep is this antipathy? This deep: The Obama administration actually had an Obama operative in Israel (the operative, a former Obama campaign strategist) working diligently to overthrow Netanyahu. Their group went by the moniker of V15.
• Netanyahu was still able to beat back this progressive blitz. And the reason was clear. Most voters understood that he has been right about Iran and its threat to Israel's national security as well as ours if they do build ICBM's. In addition, his victory also proved the Obama administration's approach is wrong---dead wrong. As Adam Brodsky made very clear in his piece today in the NY Post: "Let's cut to the chase. It's not a 'deal' that counts. It's stopping Iran from getting the bomb...It is only because Iran has cheated in the past that we're in this situation in the first place." If you recall, it was Netanyahu's speech to Congress when he declared, "That's why this deal is so bad. It doesn't block Iran's path to the bomb, it paves Iran's path to the bomb." And these are facts that Netanyahu and those who voted for him understand. On the other hand, it appears the Obama administration and progressives do not.
• It was Netanyahu, not the President of the U.S., who chose courage and fearlessness over appeasement. Netanyahu fully understands these existential threats. After all, Israel is the only nation on earth that has been threatened with total annihilation by its neighbors since its birth as a nation in 1948.
• With his election win, Netanyahu strengthened his stature as one of the leaders of the Free World. It's time Mr. Obama and his minions came to the realization that the U.S. remains the world's foremost superpower. It would also be refreshing to have the President of the U.S. and Commander-in-Chief behave as fearless and courageous as the current Prime Minister of Israel.

From Sports To Public Education To The Media To Politics: The Progressives Reinforce Misfits + Lawlessness

• As I was pondering about what to write today, it was reported the Philadelphia Eagles gave Tim Tebow a look this week. While that's not the big news in the sports world, it appears Tebow's faith still riles many on the left. The hypocrisy is stunning considering this is the same league that's tolerated all types of bad behavior from ball players kicking the crap out of their girlfriends to a player who tortured and killed dogs. 
• In education, we witness the elites always demanding more school funding into schools that keep failing. For example, Families For Excellent Schools reported that 90% of students in 500 public schools in NYS  fail in math and reading.  On the other hand, the state's inner-city Catholic schools have 95% of their students go on to college (67% of Catholic school students are classified as coming from poor households, many are not even Catholic). But the insanity doesn't stop there. 
• Throughout the nation's public schools, new progressive practices have taken hold in the form of what is called "restorative justice." In short, instead of traditional school discipline practices (e.g. expulsion for serious offenses), the trend now is to respond "positively" to misbehavior and conflict.  There's only one problem. Students don't receive consequences for their misbehavior under restorative justice. For example, last month, the teacher's union in Chicago complained the new practices leave teachers with few avenues to control disorderly and rowdy students. In the Syracuse school system, teachers have been complaining student behavior has deteriorated under the new policies. In fact, in many school districts where restorative practices have been implemented, teachers and unions have complained of a significant rise in student defiance toward teachers. Paul Sperry of the Hoover Institute recently referenced a teacher from Oakland, CA schools who said: "RJ (restorative justice) can encourage misbehavior by lavishing attention on students for committing infractions." In other words, anyone that knows anything about reinforcement knows well that negative behaviors can always be reinforced. That's what restorative justice invites. NYC says "suspending students is racist, so it will keep disruptive, even violent kids in class---and ruin learning for everyone," noted Sperry.
• And the progressive onslaught in the public system is only specific to students. Many poor performing teachers and administrators remain on the job or are also reinforced. For example, a principal in NYC was charged with fraud and misconduct LAST YEAR yet remains on the public school payroll. Another principal is keeping her job despite four years of failure. These are but two examples. NY Post
• The rot is not only pervasive in sports and in our school systems, it's infected many other parts of our culture and institutions. If you recall, it was largely the progressive politicians and media who showed support for the Occupy Wall Street misfits even after there were reports of  countless criminal acts including rapes, thefts, assaults, lewd public behavior and vandalism.
• In the last seven years, we've also observed how the first impulse of the progressive political class and their enablers in the media was to lie. ObamaCare is just one example of many.
• In recent months, we've also watched progressives fanning the flames of police hate in places like Ferguson and New York City. Unfortunately, reinforcing myths have led to police officers being shot and several killed. Even after the two NYPD police officers were ambushed and murdered, protesters shouted: "What do we want? Dead cops." It wasn't just a handful of thugs who made those disturbing and disgraceful statements. Just as troublesome, the progressive media has been openly supportive of the protesters as evidenced by a group of CNN reporters actually performing the "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" gesture on their show. Again, reinforcing a myth.
• And what does it say about an administration that invites Al Sharpton to the WH on dozens of occasions? In other words, those invitations just keep reinforcing the behavior of a race-baiting, tax-evading thug.
• But even that should not surprise anyone considering it's this administration that's cosying up to Iran---a state that's sponsored terrorism across the globe for decades---while it's State Department is currently funding a group in Israel to dump PM Netanyahu (the election is today. The U.S. Senate is investigating this charge). Regardless, it's been clear that the Obama administration has been openly hostile to Israel.
• What else is left to say about a political class that values and reinforces disorder and irresponsibility but disdains propriety and the rule of law?

Cradling Our Enemies While Tormenting Americans + Antagonizing Our Allies

By now, most observers agree that the Obama foreign policy is in tatters. Ironically some of the criticism of this administration was highlighted by Netanyahu's speech two weeks ago to Congress. Following that speech, there were whispers and shouts in the the homes of many Americans and the hallways of Congress yearning for Obama to speak with such force and fearlessness against our enemies. Instead we witnessed a president "embracing enemies and slapping friends," as Benny Avni expressed in the NY Post earlier this week.

The question many Americans should also be asking themselves is this: Why does this administration and the progressive political class continue to bully Americans and its allies but cradle its enemies?  Let's take a moment to count the ways:

• Immigration initiatives---such as amnesty for illegal immigration---which, by their very nature, hurt legal immigrants. In fact, under Obama's executive action, illegal immigrants can now get Social Security Numbers. The rationale is to get them out of the "shadows." I've always stated that reasoning is based on a myth. Illegal immigrants openly walk on most American streets.
• But it doesn't end there, illegal immigrants will now be able to get 3 years of tax refunds even if they never paid any taxes. They would simply claim the Earned Income Tax Credits.
• Mr. Obama was the first president to openly criticize the Supreme Court in a State of the Union address.
• It was the president of the U.S. who said: "There have been times where American has shown arrogance and been dismissive even derisive." He said that speaking in France.
• While the Obama administration drew red lines across American prestige, strength, influence and even its national security, it conveniently erased the red lines against our enemies. This was done initially against Syria. The outcome was the rise of ISIS. And although Russia might not be considered the enemy it was during the Cold War, erasing the red line against Putin's aggression is what we're watching play out now in the Ukraine---after he took Crimea. The red "reset" button used by then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with Russia is now one more item in the garbage heap of this administration's foreign policy failures. And all those red lines have been replaced with red lines soaked in blood.
• Egypt, a U.S. ally for the last four decades, recently turned to Russia and France to purchase military jet aircraft. 
• Iran is gaining more influence in Iraq, Yemen, and Syria and arming Hamas and Hezbollah. And of course there is ISIS whose tentacles grow by the day.
• Initially referring to ISIS as a "JV" team after admitting there was no strategy developed to counter their surge and ascent.
• Al Qaeda is not "on the run" as the administration wanted us to believe. They and their affiliates are now in Algeria, Libya, Syria, Iraq, Mali, Nigeria, Lebanon, Yemen, Somalia and growing in Pakistan (the al-Qaeda core).
• Refusing to identify our enemies (unless, of course, they happened to be Christians who have been dead for over 700 years). As Michael Goodwin wrote recently: "The rot of denial runs deep and starts at the top."
• The continued hostility toward Israel.
• The Clintons, royalty of the progressive political class, keep flipping Americans the bird. Hillary who actually believed she should keep government work a secret from the government for whom she worked but also keep it a secret from the American people.
• A progressive political class---along with its enabling nitwits---who try to convince us that facts are irrelevant. Most recently, we watched as this deceit was played out in Ferguson. One disturbing and frightening outcome of this type of dishonesty is the misery---and sometimes even the injury and death---of innocents as we witnessed with the two NYPD officers who were ambushed in NYC last December including two Ferguson officers who were shot. (The thug who ambushed the NYPD police officers referenced Ferguson).
• And the enablers in the progressive main stream media don't get a pass either. It's their sins of omission  that often leads to the suppression and misrepresentation of the truth.
• In the last seven years, we've witnessed the progressive political class bash conservative women, sicking the IRS upon conservative groups, the conservative media, people of faith, law enforcement and even our military---most recently at the memory of Chris Kyle.

So instead of an American administration inspiring the nation, as well as its allies, with strength, fearlessness and conviction (as Ronald Reagan did so well), it chooses the path of tormenting its own and behaving as a reluctant warrior in the face of vicious and barbaric enemies (hence the political cartoon above). Any wonder then why so many view the Obama administration as unreliable and weak?

Postscript: And then there's Iran. As usual, Iran is now making a fool of Obama's foreign policy---again.
