While The Middle East Is Spiraling Into Chaos, Progressives Target Bakeries & Pizza Parlors

As I write this today, news just broke about two women arrested in NYC who allegedly were exploring using bombs similar to the bombs used at the Boston Marathon two years ago. Al Qaeda is also reported to have released about 300 prisoners from a jail in Yemen. Earlier today, Islamist attacked a university in Kenya and murdered at least 70 and wounded 79 Christians (before people were shot, they were asked if they were Muslim or Christian. Those who said they were Christian were shot). According to report, several hundred hostages remain.

At the same time, negotiations continue with Iran as the AP reports a preliminary deal has been reached. Obama's red line to Iran expired two days ago. Considering Iran has always cheated in all negotiations, no one should be surprised at how mindless and foolish it is to consider there will be a rational outcome. In addition, the details of any deal will not be finalized for several months. We do know this. While ISIS is a genocidal organization, Iran is the leading genocidal nation on earth. And a deal that does not stop Iran from getting a nuclear bomb is not a deal. It's a suicidal pact. Also, it's influence has already spread to Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon. It also remains a threat to Israel considering they've promised to wipe it off the map. For those to young to remember, it was Iran that held American hostages for 444 days from Nov. 4, 1979 to January 20, 1981. They were released after Ronald Reagan took office as president.

While all of this and more is going on, the progressive political class and its media keep obsessing about bakeries and pizza parlors. It's as if we're revisiting 1789 Salem, MA again. The absurdity is both disturbing and alarming. We're watching as the media elevates fake and phony news stories over the real dangers posed by Islamic fanatics who just might have nuclear weapons within a few years if not earlier.

If there is one lesson history has always taught us, it's this: Ignore it at your own peril.

Postscript: Up-date on Iran Deal (there really is no deal yet)

Since this was posted yesterday, the administration is hailing the following:

• Iran will continue its nuclear program.
• Sanctions will be lifted when the UN Security Council approves the "deal."
• The heavy water plant will be allowed to be finished.
• Iran will be allowed to maintain its current uranium enrichment level for 10 years.
• It can maintain 6000 centrifuges (far more than the Obama administration demanded in earlier years.
• Grant inspectors of the Atomic Energy Commission greater access.
• The "deal" has no legal value. Rather, it's a statement of "intent."

The Indiana RFRA Reflects "A Perfect Storm Of Hysteria & Legal Ignorance" As Well As Manufactured Lies

Like most conservatives, I want full civil rights for every American---including gay Americans. But I'm getting my fill of progressive militant bullies. But the intent of this piece today is not to defend Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). No, that would be much to easy. In addition, until the progressive militant gays express outrage for the thousands of gays who have been murdered by Islamist (most recently, ISIS and other savages have been playing a game I refer to as: "Let's throw gays off roof tops"), I'm not lending them an ear. I'd be wasting my time.  They don't listen to reason and deny facts and the truth anyway.

My intent is to point out their conspicuous bigotry and intolerance. The reaction we're witnessing to the Indiana Law, a version that was signed by Pres. Clinton in 1993 and now modeled by almost two dozen other states, should surprise no one. After all, these are many of the same people who:

• Perpetuated the "Hands Up; Don't Shoot" lies of Ferguson.
• Blindly follow the lead of race-baiting thugs like Al Sharpton and his ilk.
• Attacked Chick fil A for its support of traditional marriage---their First Amendment right to do so.
• Would---as John Nolte above pointed out---rather negotiate with gay-murdering Iran than with gay-friendly Indiana.
• Would prefer government coercion over the beliefs of Christians but remain silent when it comes to Islamist slaughtering thousands of Christians around the globe.
• Remained silent when A+E censored Duck Dynasty's family prayers and even attacked the family's religious beliefs. At the time, even Camille Paglia, a leading gay feminist, said the reaction was: "utterly fascist and utterly Stalinist."
• Proclaimed the noble outcomes of Selma as it related to expanding civil rights and made great strides in human dignity,  yet supported the boycott of Israel's PM speaking to Congress.
• Had no problem when Pres. Obama was against guy marriage before he was for it. He supported it only for political gain.
• Forced the CEO of Mozilla to reign because he donated a grand in support of CA's Prop 8 six years earlier. Donating to a political cause is a basic First Amendment right.

These are all a small sampling of the bullying bigotry and intolerance on the left. Their attacks on free speech, people of faith and The Constitution will surely continue. And they will continue to profit from their own divisiveness. As Rich Lowry (editor of National Review) pointed out so well today: " The anti-Indiana backlash is a perfect storm of hysteria and legal ignorance, supercharged by the particularly censorious self-righteousness of the left...Yes, there is intolerance afoot in the debate over Indiana, but it's not on the part of Indianans. 

Progressive Ideology Is So Pernicious It Even Embraces Failure

I've often written about Hillary Clinton---outlining and summarizing her countless failures as well as her lack of any meaningful accomplishments. I've done the same with the many failures of the Obama administration. Yet, I still find it disturbing how many Americans are NOT dissatisfied, distrustful, wary and even suspicious of these failed leaders (referring to leaders in their political party--for "leadership" is apparent by its absence).

I know I'm not alone in this observation but their warped and toxic ideology continues to have millions of adherents. And while belonging to a particular political party is a basic right for all Americans; in my opinion, a line is crossed when an ideology relies solely on lies, deceit, and intolerance. Progressive ideology meets that criteria and more.

For example, George Will made an interesting observation recently when he said: "The party, adrift in identity politics, clings, as shipwrecked sailors do to floating debris, to this odd feminist heroine.." He was obviously referring to Hillary Clinton. He went on to list her many failures including her own health-care deliberations during Bill Clinton's first term in office. If you recall, those meetings were held in complete secrecy. As we learned last week, Politico and other news organizations reported she wiped her hard drive clean deleting thousands of emails from her tenure as Secretary of State. But, as Will and others have pointed out, many in the Democrat Party still support her.

But even more disturbing are the millions of Americans who still support this administration even as its foreign policy is in complete disarray. For example, if your trying to make sense of its Middle East and anti-terror policies, get the duct tape ready because your head will explode. 

Not only is there a holocaust occurring against millions of Christians throughout the world (while most of Western society remains as bystanders), but we are allied with Iran against Sunni thugs in Iraq and Syria. And this upside-down foreign policy becomes even more bizarre when you know that we've aligned with other Middle Eastern nations against pro-Iranian forces in Yemen. That duct tape comes in handy now doesn't it?

This foreign policy insanity even left Chris Wallace of Fox News asking: "Please explain to me---whose side are we on?" Today, many Americans are asking themselves the same question. And this perplexing foreign policy had the editors of the NY Post writing: "Always a tinderbox, the Middle East is rapidly descending into uncontrollable chaos---with Washington increasingly alienating its time-tested allies, Israel and Egypt, and sending all sides scrambling."

If the intent of the Obama administration is to support more chaos in that region, it's succeeding. Unfortunately, too many innocents are paying an ultimate price with their lives. Sen. McCain even said an Arab leader told him recently: "We believe it is more dangerous to be a friend of America's than an enemy."

So can you blame me and millions of  Americans who keep scratching our heads and wondering how failure after failure continues to be embraced by millions of other Americans? Go figure.
