What's There To Be Happy and Thankful For Looking Back at 2011?

The Republican candidates all have a different position on the Federal Reserve. Ron Paul: anti-Fed. Mitt Romney: pro-Fed. And Newt Gingrich: over-fed."---Leno

There's a lot of lists that go around this time of year summarizing all of the events and news stories that took place in 2011. I'm going to take a different spin---reporting on what we should all be happy thankful for looking back at 2011.

  • Let's Start With These Three First:

All three are dead.

Payroll Tax Reporting and Conspicuous Media Bias; Ron Paul: Man Up!; It Looks More Like Romney; Insanity Continues South Of The Border; Even Goofy Matt Damon Angry At Obama; ObamaCare Still Not Living Up To Expectations Set By Obama; Kudos to Jim Carrey, Tom Cruise, Sandra Bullock and Other Hollywood Stars

"Office Pool's Low Number Of Bracket Printouts A Reminder Of How Many Employees Were Laid Off Last Year."---From The Onion's Sports Issue

  • If you read the headlines in the news in the last several weeks, you would think the Republicans are against the extension of the payroll tax cut. For example, on CNN, the headline is: "House GOP Relents On Payroll Tax Cut Deal." Folks---the Republicans want the payroll tax extension for ONE YEAR not a stinking two months. They did relent to the Democrats on a two month deal, but the media wants the public to think they are against the extension of the payroll tax. The truth is---they want it for a longer period than do the Democrats. This type of dishonest reporting should tick everyone off.
  • Ron Paul is taking some heat for newsletters he wrote in the 1990's that appear to be overtly racist. Yo Ron, when you have newsletters entitled, "The Ron Paul Political Report" and "The Ron Paul Survival Report," who wrote those---Santa Claus? It would be like me disavowing calling Joe Biden "Slo Joe" or Pelosi a "dummy." I wrote it. I own it. Man up!
  • Perhaps having a long campaign season is good. With this stuff coming out about Ron Paul, regardless of what happens in Iowa (a state I am convinced does not exist. We only hear about it every four years. It's an illusion), I'm now convinced Mitt Romney will be the Republican candidate. Former Pres. George H. W. Bush endorsed Romney today.
  • The insanity continues in Mexico. The entire police department of Veracrux, Mexico, was dissolved, according to news reports today. It appears the department is so corrupt, all 800 police officers and 300 administrators were let go. Any chance we can do that with our own Congress? Just askin'.
  • Goofy Matt Damon is one of the biggest supporters of Obama---or he was. He said, "A one term president with some balls who actually got some stuff done, would have been, in the long run for the country, much better." He added he was disappointed with Mr. Obama's ability to "get stuff done." Hollywood Reporter

Trending Today: NJ Plane Crash, Payroll Taxes, Snooki, "Girl With The Dragon Tattoos;" Where's That Parade?; Electric Cars A Bust; Newt Says No More Mr. Nice Guy

When Rick Perry was told about North Korea's Kim Jong II, Rick Perry said, "I never heard of him, but then again, I don't listen to that kind of rap."---Leno

  • I always check out what's trending on Google. Guess what? Rarely do political names come up. In fact, the only related political issue that's trending on Google today is the debate of whether to extend the payroll tax. Makes me wonder how many Americans and others really care about politics.
  • Regarding the debate over the extension of the payroll tax, once again, both parties---in my opinion---are showing their incompetence. Brinkmanship on both sides of the political isle is evident. The Democrats want to cut the tax for only an additional two months. The Republicans want it extended another year. The Republicans also want the Keystone pipeline to be approved, because it's believed the project will create anywhere from 6,000 to 20,000 jobs (no one really knows the exact number). The Democrats don't want it, appealing directly to their environmental base. So we're left with nothing right now. By extending the payroll tax cut for only another two months, one outcome is certain. We'll be going through this insanity again in February of next year. In other words, back to the starting line. And where is Pres. Obama? I think you know.

  • Last week, I questioned why the departure of our troops from Iraq was so low key. I and others surmised it was largely due to not giving the Bush administration any credit for our victory in Iraq. I'm not the only one asking that question. Vincent Ignizio wrote a piece this week entitled, "A Parade For Our Heroes." He reminds everyone that NYC and Washington held parades for our returning troops after the First Gulf War in 1991. Thousands showed up for the ticker tape parades. Yet, after this victory, nada, nothing, zero, zilch, nic...Cities across the nation have ticker tape parades after a baseball team wins the World Series or a football team wins The Super Bowl. But for our real heroes: nothing.
  • In fact, New York City, each year, has the following parades (and this list does not include all of them) Gay Pride Parade, Puerto Rican Day Parade, Pulaski Parade, Brazilian Day Parade, Dominican Day Parade, Universal Hip-Hop Parade (say friggin what?), Phillipine Independence Day Parade, NY Persian Day Parade and about 8 others. Thank God they at least have the courtesy to have a Veterans Day Parade. In addition, there have been shootings and stabbings in a number of these parades over the years. And some people were killed (becha never heard about that in your newspapers) NY Post, Dec. 19, 2011
  • Quote of the Week: A writer to the NY Post wrote of the Post Office problems: "Saving the USPS in the Internet Age is like trying to save the horse and buggy after cars were invented." Mike Thomas

Happy Hanukkah!; Slo Joe's Foot in Mouth Again; Data Shows Politicians Suck; Newt Tanking?; Ron Paul: Koo Koo?; Concealed Carry Laws; Sean Penn vs. Maria Alonso; Last Words on Hitchens

Gary Busey has withdrawn his endorsement of Newt Gingrich. That's when you know your campaign is in trouble.---Leno

Happy Hanukkah to all our Jewish brothers and sisters!

  • God, I love Joe Biden. I really do. The often used phrase, "the gift that keeps on giving," was written especially for Slo Joe. This week he actually said, "The Taliban, per se, is not our enemy." Unfortunately, for Slo Joe, his boss has said the Taliban is our enemy on a number of occasions. Hey, it's Slo Joe being Joe. They'll just put his straight jacket back on and send him home. And when they need to add a little humor to the campaign, they trot Slo Joe back out. He's the Court Jester of this administration.
  • How much lower can the approval rating of Congress go? Well, it's going to have to dip under 11%---that's their current approval rating according to Gallup/USA Today. President  Obama received an "excellent" job rating of a whopping 8%. Democrats were at a 3% and Republicans were trailing by 2%. What conclusion can one come to by looking at this data? Only one: most Americans believe politicians suck.
  • The president talks a good game about bi-partisanship but he does not walk the talk. He's not met with any in the Republican leadership now for almost 5 months (USA Today and National Review). But he's had time to have over 30 fundraisers around the nation. I'm convinced he's done with leading the nation (he never really started). His only interest now is re-election and raising tons of cold, hard cash from the top 1% in the country.
  • As predicted here just a few short weeks ago, it appears Newt's surge is now taking a hard right U turn to the bottom.  His poll numbers have been retreating the last several days. Where he was leading, now he's either tied or trailing Romney (Washington Post/ABC Poll).
  • Have you noticed something about Ron Paul? He bashes America more than even Libs and Progressives do. For example, in the last debate, he actually implied we will declare war on American Muslims. As one commentator pointed out, Ron Paul must have forgotten the millions of Muslims we helped in Somalia (from dying from starvation), Bosnia/Kosovo (from total ethnic cleansing) and Iraq. Last year, he actually said there's been a coup in the U.S. "It's the CIA coup. The CIA runs everything." I have two words for Ron Paul: koo-koo.

  • But there is some good news---at least for incoming North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. His father made him a four star general. The little pr!ck is only about 28 years old.
  • And more good news. More states are stared to loosen up concealed carry gun laws. Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming do not even require permits. God bless America
  • I have a new Hollywood hero. Her name is Maria Alonso. She's Cuban. That means she's no friend of any Commies.  She bumped into fellow actor Sean Penn, a big Chavez supporter, at an LAX recently. They got into a dust up. He called her a "pig." She responded by calling him a "communist a-hole." Gotta love this girl.

  • Why did I like Christopher Hitchens even though I disagreed with most of his politics? In addition to his being a throwback journalist and writer---one who liked to chain smoke and have a glass of Scotch at his elbow, a throwback to guys like Hemingway--- I liked him for writings like these: "During the 1992 election I concluded as early as my first visit to New Hampshire that Bill Clinton was hateful in his behavior to women, pathological as a liar, and deeply suspect when it came to money in politics. I have never had to take any of that back." (note: this was several years before the Lewinsky scandal even broke) He also wrote about the war in Iraq which he supported (and got him thrown out of the progressive elite's dinner invitations), "Those of us who are most genuinely repelled by war and violence are also those who are most likely to decide that some things, after all, are worth fighting for." And perhaps most appropriately, he wrote this: "I have tried for much of my life to write as if I was composing my sentences to be read posthumously."

Walters Most Fascinating People?; Ding Dong Kim Jong Is Dead; RIP Vaclav Havel; Bad News 4 Obama and The Occupiers; Fannie & Freddie & Fraud; Poor Americans On The Rise

On the campaign trail, Ron Paul said he does not like his milk homogenized. After hearing this, Rick Perry said, "I'm also not a fan of gay milk."---Conan

  • Barbara Walters list of most fascinating people this year included the Kardasians (not an ounce of talent in that entire family), Donald Trump, and Katy Perry among others less notable.  Kimmel said is this the list of the most fascinating people or the list of the reasons why the terrorists hate us?
  • Speaking of Barbara Walters, Pres. Obama could still not proclaim victory in Iraq in his interview with Babs. And a friend of mine raised a good point. He can't because he won't give the previous administration any credit for our victory.

  • By now, you probably know Kim Jong, the dictator and scum bucket of North Korea, is dead. It's generally good news except it's North Korea. Only God can predict what those crazy bastards and China have in mind for that country now. Ding Dong Kim Jong Is Dead (I stole that little biddy from someone and it's so appropriate)

  • On the other end of the spectrum, Vaclav Havel died this weekend at the age of 75. He stood up against Commie tyranny and won (as did Lech Welesa in Poland). In Czechoslovakia it became known as "The Velvet Revolution." Not bad for a guy who was a playwright. He was also a man who displayed absolute individual heroism in the face of pure evil. May he be remembered for eternity.
