- When the Romney campaign was preparing to release his tax returns last week, I believe I wrote something like watch how the Democrats and their enablers, the presstitutes, spin whatever Romney's returns show. It didn't take long for Harry "Romney didn't pay taxes for 10 years" Reid to declare Romney "manipulated" his tax returns. There is one conspicuous fact: Harry Reid is the nation's asshole. And that's saying a lot when you have Pelosi, Slo Joe Biden and many others as your peers in Congress and in government.
- But what can we expect from what many Americans consider the worst Congress in modern American history? Gallup's approval rating for Congress fell to an all time low of 10%.
- By the way, Harry "the war is lost" Reid has not released his 2011 tax returns.
- So let's take a look at Romney's tax returns (he also released a summary of 20 years of tax returns). We know he paid almost $2 million in taxes on an income of $14 million. Of that, he gave $4 million to charity. In fact, in the last two years, he paid $5 million in taxes while giving away $7 million. And how much did the Romneys donate to charity in the last 20 years? Just a measly $50 million.
- In fact, the Romneys gave three times as much to charity in a single day than Biden and his wife did in the entire decade.
- One more fact. The Romneys paid an effective tax rate of over 20% in those 20 years and claimed only 55% of their actual giving.
- It's undeniable the Romenys are extraordinarily charitable.
- But all of this should surprise no one who knows the facts. In 2006, Syracuse University published, "Who Really Cares?" In that study, it showed conservatives are far more generous than liberals when it comes to charitable giving. Another reason it should surprise no one: liberals believe in relying on free-bees from the government. They prefer to take rather than to give.
- All you need to know about liberals and progressives is the real world is the most dangerous place for them. That's why they hide in the nation's universities and newsrooms.
