Americans Are Being "Played" By The Obama Administration + Congress

"Well, Time To Go Out  In Front Of  A Bunch Of People And Lie To Them" by Jay Carney via The Onion

  • One of the reasons I believe we're seeing Pres. Obama's poll numbers tanking (at this point in time) is simple:  Many more Americans are starting to realize and understand they've been played.

  • Examples are many, but one in particular stands out. When Obama was campaigning he pandered to a lot of different constituencies. But no where was this more evident than in his overtures to young voters. Obama won their vote by a margin of about 65% to 32% in 2008 and in 2012. He curried favor with young people with ObamaCare and education.
  • With ObamaCare, he made it possible for young people to remain on their parents' health plans until age 26. Young folks thought that was cool until they found out there was a cost for that---to their parents. With education, he made loans more easy to access. Unfortunately, that strategy led to the average outstanding debt loan for students to now be about $25,000 (total outstanding student loan debt now exceeds $1 trillion more than all credit card debt combined).

  • So how was this constituency played? He did all of that for you but he forgot the most important part---helping to create jobs for young adults.  Over 40% of graduates are underemployed. Moreover, with regard to ObamaCare, it's the young adults who will be strapped with huge premiums to help fund ObamaCare (hence the administration now targeting professional sports team to get the message out about ObamaCare exchanges). In other words, to fund ObamaCare, he needs you.  For example, The Kaiser Family Foundation estimated that a young adult (26 years of age) who makes $30 grand a year will be strapped with a $2,500/year payment for the "Silver Plan." And if you are a young person who smokes, the cost of that plan goes up to about $4000 a year.
  • Who else was played by Obama and Congress? Well, black unemployment is still very high in the 13% range, much higher for young black adults (in some urban areas, it's over 40%). Hispanic unemployment still hovers in the 9% range.
  • When it comes to the poor, their ranks have continued to grow with over 42 million now living in poverty.
  • And when it comes to the middle-class, they've seen their wealth fall by about 40%.
  • Even some of Obama's strongest backers---unions---are upset at the cost of ObamaCare. So upset, they are demanding waivers (some have already received waivers).
  • More recently, we've been played by the IRS, NSA, DOJ and who knows what other federal agencies. But even more disturbing, we're finding very few of these people being held accountable for their actions. For example, it's been nine months since the attack on Benghazi, yet no one has been held accountable, no one has been arrested.
  • So I'm left with asking this question: How much longer will Americans tolerate being played?
