Obama's Backdraft: He Always Opens The Wrong Door

Pretty safe to conclude now that Bill Clinton was a better first black president than Barack Obama...John Nolte Tweet

Note: Since this was posted, we know what Putin did.
  • The credo of the Muslim Brotherhood: "Allah is our objective. The Quran is our law. The prophet is our leader.  Jihad is our way and death for the sake of Allah is the highest of our aspirations." In addition to their credo, the history of the Muslim Brotherhood is violent. They also have a long standing association with al-Qaeda and Hamas. So what can possibly go wrong by the Obama administration supporting these thugs as it did last year in Egypt? (Mubarak was certainly no angel. But he kept his boot on the throats of Jihadists as well as maintaining the treaty with Israel. He also made sure the Suez Canal remained open. All of that was in our best interests). When the Muslim Brotherhood took over last year, I wrote at the time: this will not end well. I'm not a genius. I just have some common sense.
  • As Ralph Peters pointed out so well this week: "...America's most famous windsurfer {J.F.Kerry} castigated the Egyptian authorities insisting that the Muslim Brotherhood had a right to 'peaceful protests.' Apparently peaceful means armed with Kalashnikovs, killing policemen, kidnapping and torturing opponents, turning mosques into prisons, attacking Christians and burning Coptic churches...using women and children as shields (a tactic typical of Islamist terrorists)."
  • And that's the point. It appears every door Obama opens is the wrong door, and we get consumed by a backdraft. Or, as one of my colleagues recently said in more crude terms, it seems everything the Obama administration touches turns to shit.
  • We've observed this hyper-incompetence in most domestic policies. And now we are seeing it manifested more clearly in this administration's foreign policy.
  • Even the BBC today (a far left leaning news organization) had to admit that our country's credibility is now in tatters. As I wrote not long ago, with the exception of Jimmy Carter in modern history, no other presidential administration has diminished the power of the office of the U.S. presidency as much as Obama has. Perhaps no one better expressed the current state of this presidency than the former security advisor to Henry Kissinger, K.T. McFarland, who wrote: "President Obama's much discussed policy of 'leading from behind' has led the U.S. metaphorically cowering under the bed."
  • This administration's crumbling credibility---whatever credibility they have left---has not only been manifested in one domestic scandal after another but it's failed foreign policy has reinforced its hyper--incompetence. Unfortunately, when it came to Egypt and this administration's decision to send weapons to Syrian rebels, we sided with the devil.
  • Peters concluded later in his piece that "the Muslim Brotherhood, not the Egyptian military chose blood." Some of that blood is on our hands too.
