Regarding Ted Cruz's 30 minute heartfelt speech without a teleprompter, Obama will mock it the very minute his teleprompter is ready...WH Press Secretary
While I do lean more toward Scott Walker, I don't have a horse in this race just yet. It's much too early. On the other hand, I'm finding the attacks by the progressive political class (Democrats and Republican elites) against Cruz both interesting and disturbing.
In his speech last week, Cruz spoke well as he usually does. So let's take a few moments to examine some of the statements he made that have been described by many in the progressive political class (including its enablers in the media) as "dangerous" "scary" "Ignorant" "combative" "bit of a jerk" "Uppity" "Looks a little like Joe McCarthy" "Un-conservative" "How do you solve a problem like Ted Cruz" and similar descriptions. Those old enough to recall will remember similar comments were made against Ronald Reagan.

- "Today I want to talk to you about the promise of America."
- "...the American exceptionalism that made this nation a clarion voice for freedom in the world, a shining city on the hill." (Borrowing from Reagan) "That's the promise of America."
- "I want each of you to imagine, imagine millions of courageous conservatives, rising up together to say in unison 'we demand our liberty.'"
- "Imagine instead of economic stagnation, booming economic growth."
- "Imagine America finally becoming energy self-sufficient and millions of high paying jobs are created."
- "Imagine abolishing the IRS."
- "Imagine a president that finally, finally, finally secures the borders."
- "Imagine a federal government that protects the right to keep and bear arms of all law-abiding Americans."
- "Imagine a federal government that protected the privacy rights of every American."
- "Imagine a president that stands unapologetically with the nation of Israel."
- "Imagine a president who says he will stand up and defeat radical Islamic terrorism and will call it by its name."
- "It is a time for truth. It is a time for liberty. It is a time to reclaim the Constitution of the United States."
Imagine, if you can, that we have millions of Americans who disagree with the statements above. Then it's not too difficult to imagine why Obama was elected twice.
